Fnnews: Samsung failed to sell 30 million smartphones in a year
Samsung lost ground to Apple in the important smartphone market and missed its sales target. This is reported by the Korean edition of Fnnews.
Media experts analyzed the supply of smartphones from Samsung and other brands in 2022. It turned out that the Korean corporation will not be able to sell 30 million units of smartphones by the end of December – the company set such a goal for itself at the end of 2021. Analysts said that the plans were thwarted even amid the popularity of the brand’s foldable gadgets.
Also, Samsung continues to lose ground in the premium smartphone segment in the global market. According to experts, the IT giant, like Apple, wants to sell more expensive devices, but the cheapest Samsung Galaxy A12 phone turned out to be the most popular Samsung device. In the local market, the company has a strong position as a leading manufacturer of flagships, but outside of South Korea, the company is inferior to competitors – mainly Apple.
In addition, over the year, Samsung increased the ASP of smartphones (average selling price, the average selling price is approx. “Tapes.ru”) by only two percent. By comparison, Apple’s ASP grew by seven percent, driven by strong sales of premium devices.
Earlier it became known that Samsung decided not to save on the production of smartphones in order to compete with Apple. According to insiders, the firm’s top executives have urged their employees to think about ways to make phones more competitive without focusing on cutting costs.
