The Russians pointed to the possibility of circumventing the new restrictions of Apple

Expert Kuskov called non-critical shutdown of a number of Apple functions in Russia

A number of restrictions on the part of Apple regarding Russian users are not critical for the use of gadgets, Denis Kuskov, CEO of TelecomDaily, told Lente.ru. At the same time, the expert explained that the Russians have the opportunity to partially bypass the lack of support for the functionality of voice transmission over the LTE network and calls over Wi-Fi in smartphones in Russia.

In an interview with Lenta.ru, the expert recalled that mobile communication when talking on the phone via LTE provides better communication quality than via 3G or 2G, but this, according to him, is not critical. Kuskov compared communication via LTE or 3G with the ability to travel on a toll or free road.

“Before, the voice always went either to 2G or 3G, now it is possible to stay in LTE, this provides better communication quality. 60 percent or more of traffic in major cities now passes through LTE. But even without VoLTE, there is a connection in any case, ”said Kuskov.

At the same time, he did not rule out that users can independently install software that will allow communication via LTE. In the case of VoWiFi, it is not possible to circumvent the restrictions, the expert explained.

“Hypothetically, it can be put there, you just need to do some manipulations. As for VoWiFi, it cannot be installed in any way, and it is categorically used very little, that is, where there is no connection at all, but Wi-Fi is available – in a cottage village, for example. All this is uncritical, and you can live without it, ”the specialist added.

Earlier it became known that new functions of Apple smartphones were not available in Russia. It was clarified that the company did not add support for the functionality of voice over LTE (VoLTE) and calls over Wi-Fi (VoWiFi) to smartphones operating in Russian networks.
