TechRadar: PlayStation 5 Pro will get a fast Gen 5 SSD

The next generation PlayStation console will get a new solid state drive. This is reported by TechRadar.

IT media journalists have stated that the PS5 Pro should come with a Gen 5.0 NVme SSD. According to the authors, this update will allow the new set-top box to compete with personal computers, which have the advantage of modular design and upgradeability.

According to journalists, the fast Gen 5 SSD can provide speeds up to 13 thousand megabytes per second. This is about 60 percent faster than the Gen 4 SSDs used in the PlayStation 5. The authors predicted that PS5 Pro games would load faster than they currently do. Rendering speed characteristics should also increase.

“If Sony wants to extend the life of its latest game console, adopting a new storage standard will be beneficial for everyone,” the experts noted. Also, the upcoming Sony console may receive an updated AMD RDNA 2 processor called Oberon and 16 gigabytes of GDDR6 video memory.

Sony has previously hinted that they have begun work on the PlayStation 5 Pro. “I hope you look forward to next year,” said Hideaki Nishino, vice president of the SIE Platform Experience.
