“Kommersant”: sales of fake headphones in Russia can reach 300 million rubles
Demand in Russia for wireless headphones in 2022 has grown. Sales of fake headphones have also risen, Kommersant reports.
A source in the company of one of the headphone manufacturers noted that by the end of the year the market for fake wearable devices will reach 200-300 million rubles. According to the CEO of TelecomDaily Denis Kuskov, fakes for premium headphones can be found both in marketplaces and in small stores.
In general, the demand for wireless headphones in Russia grew by 19 percent year-on-year. MTS representatives told reporters that 12.2 million headsets were sold in 2022. At the same time, the growth dynamics has decreased: in 2021 it was 40 percent. In money terms, the market decreased by eight percentage points, to 38.9 billion rubles.
According to M.Video-Eldorado, about 60 percent of demand was occupied by wireless devices, for the same period last year their share was 54 percent. According to MegaFon, the year-on-year growth in the wireless headphone segment was 7 percent: “Just like last year, the leaders in unit terms were JBL, Honor, Philips, Xiaomi. The top brands in terms of money also remained virtually unchanged: Apple, JBL, Honor, Xiaomi are in the lead. The newcomer to the top 5 this year is Realme, last year it was replaced by Huawei in the top 5.”
In early December, analysts at Canalys said that Apple received about a third of the global headphone market. The top 3 also included Samsung and boAt.
