iFixit explains why the new iPad is incompatible with a stylus
Enthusiasts from iFixit studied the internals of the new Apple tablet. The corresponding video is available on the company’s YouTube channel.
Specialists of an organization dealing with the repair of various gadgets showed the design of the 10th generation iPad in a video. During the disassembly of the device, the authors found out why the tablet is incompatible with the 2nd generation Apple Pencil stylus. The company explained that the device was deprived of wireless charging for the stylus, because an updated front camera took its place.
iFixit also learned that the iPad’s dual-cell battery has special tabs that make it easier to replace the battery, making it much easier to repair the device. On previous versions of the iPad, the battery was glued to the back of the device, as a result of which, when servicing the gadget, its components could be damaged.
Enthusiasts stressed that the iPad 10’s repairability level is otherwise disappointing. So, the USB-C port turned out to be “tightly” soldered to the motherboard, that is, its replacement is not provided. Apple is also not currently providing parts for the new iPad through its self-repair program.
The iPad 10 was announced on October 18th. The device received a 10.9-inch display with a resolution of 2360×1640 pixels, an A14 Bionic processor, support for Wi-Fi 6 and 5G, and a Touch ID fingerprint sensor. The cost of the basic version of the device was 449 dollars.
