The Register: Epson called the end of service life the reason for the breakdown of printers

Epson representatives explained why their printers could suddenly stop working. This is reported by The Register.

Media journalists drew attention to the complaints of Epson printer users who spoke about a technician that suddenly stopped working. In a statement on the support site, company representatives named the cause of the breakdown. According to them, the problem is related to the end of the service life of consumables.

The manufacturer’s statement says that the error occurs when the ink collection system is nearing the end of its life. “Your printer won’t work until it’s serviced,” the firm said. According to experts, users need to either replace the ink-collecting pads or reset the collection system counter.

Journalists of the edition noted that in the initial message of the Epson support service, it was recommended to service the printer in an authorized customer service center. However, when consumers of the brand’s equipment began to complain about the company on social networks, Epson updated the rules of service. The authors noted that the utility with which you can reset the described counter is available only on computers running Windows.

In early August, Gizmodo reported that users of Epson printers complained that the equipment stopped working after a certain period of use. Experts accused the company of applying a “planned obsolescence” policy to its equipment.
