It’s still not a sure farewell, but Christian Eriksen may be leaving Inter Milan. In Italy, the midfielder may not receive the approval to return to play on the field due to the country’s medical rules, which do not allow athletes to wear devices such as the internal cardiodefibrillator (ICD).
After suffering cardiac arrest at the Euro Cup, Eriksen had to install the device in his heart. According to the newspaper Corriere dello Sport, the player welcomes leaving Inter and migrating to Ajax, where he played between 2009 and 2013.
However, the Italian team is still hopeful, as an exception remains. Christian could be released if the club can prove that his heart condition was caused by a temporary illness or a virus.
The newspaper says the Milan club does not expect to get any kind of financial compensation if Eriksen leaves the club, but would have financial relief of 7.5 million euros (R$49.4 million) a year from the player’s salary.
Eriksen suffered a cardiac arrest on June 12, at the Euro Cup, in the duel between Denmark and Finland. He was resuscitated in the field and then underwent surgery to implant an internal cardiodefibrillator (ICD).
