Passage through Germany and Turkish restructuring
Before joining England, the Dutchman spent three and a half seasons with German team Wolfsburg, scoring 59 goals in 118 games in Bundesliga.
Besiktas, coached by Frenchman Valérien Ismaël, finished sixth in last season’s Süper Lig, a disappointing result for the team that won the Copa-Liga double in the 20/21 season.
