Khamzat Chimaev wanted to fight in October at the UFC tournament in Abu Dhabi
Swedish mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter Khamzat Chimaev revealed his plans for the future. The athlete became a guest of the Hustle MMA show.
Chimaev, 27, said he wants to fight in October at the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) tournament in Abu Dhabi. “It’s like home for me. I started there, I want to finish there, win belts, ”he said.
In the same interview, Chimaev spoke about the emotions that he experienced during the fight with Gilbert Burns at the UFC 273 tournament. The Swede of Chechen origin admitted that because of the desire to knock out the opponent, he did not follow the fight plan.
Chimaev defeated Burns by decision. For the first time, he failed to finish the fight ahead of schedule. Chimaev’s likely opponent in the next fight will be American Colby Covington.
The victory over Burns was the 11th in his career for Chimaev. The Swede has never lost in professional MMA.
