The American investor is close to closing a $4.2 billion deal. Pain’s candidacy was approved by the American bank Raine Group, which accompanies the sale of the football club.

In early March, the media named Swiss billionaire Hansjörg Wyss as a possible buyer for the club. The businessman confirmed that he had received an offer to buy Chelsea.

On February 26, Abramovich handed over the management of Chelsea to the trustees of the eponymous charitable foundation. The Russian businessman came under the sanctions of the British government.
