The Ministry of Defense reported on the causes of the fire at the oil depot in Belgorod.
According to these data, early Friday morning, two Ukrainian Mi-24 helicopters entered the airspace of the Russian Federation at extremely low altitude and launched a missile attack on an oil storage facility located on the outskirts of Belgorod. The fire started.
“The tank farm near Belgorod has nothing to do with the Russian armed forces,” the Defense Ministry said.
In Kyiv, they did not confirm or deny involvement in the attack.
The fire lasted several hours and was recently contained. The mayor of Belgorod and a representative of Rosneft said that there were no casualties as a result of the fire. In one residential building, windows were broken, a power line was broken and has already been restored.
Recall that on February 21, 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed decrees recognizing the independence of the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics (DPR and LPR), and on February 24 he made an emergency appeal to the Russians and announced a special military operation in Donbass. In his speech, he stated that “circumstances require decisive action from Russia” and stressed that “Russia will not allow Ukraine to have nuclear weapons.” The goals of the special operation were called “demilitarization and denazification” of Ukraine.
