In the Major Leagues, the Venezuelan Miguel Cabrera could make history this Thursday against the New York Yankees, if he manages to connect the 3,000th hit in his career.
The llanero would become the only player from his country to achieve it and would join a list of 33 players who have done so in the entire history of Major League Baseball (MLB).
Cabrera came close to doing it last season, but fell short. However, he still did not think about his retirement and the challenge was placed at 39 years old.
This Wednesday night he went 3-4 against the Yankees and struck out in his last turn against the shipments of Clay Holmes, after going 3-3, leaving everything served to do so against the New York team itself at Comerica Park, home of his team the Detroit Tigers.
Cabrera will first face starter Jordan Montgomery, whom he is 1-for-3 with a strikeout for life.
In addition, Cabrera is missing a double to reach 600 for life and drop from 17th place to the legendary Barry Bonds, in all time.
