European figure skating champion Sofya Samodurova retires at 19
Russian figure skater Sofya Samodurova completed her sports career. The athlete became a guest of the show “Figure” on YouTube.
The 19-year-old Russian woman will focus on coaching at the headquarters of her mentor Alexei Mishin. Samodurova stressed that she calmly decided to leave the sport. She added that she likes the work of a coach.
The European champion in figure skating said that she planned to leave for Kazakhstan. However, Mishin convinced her to stay and work with the children.
Samodurova won gold at the 2019 European Championships in Minsk in single skating. She also won silver and bronze at the Grand Prix stages in the 2018/2019 season. At the 2019 World Championships, she showed the eighth result. In the same season, Samodurova became the sixth in the national championship.
