Clashes before the game between Eintracht and West Ham end in 2 injured and 30 arrested

Frankfurt police arrested 30 Eintracht and West Ham fans on Thursday over riots that left two injured. The confusion took place a few hours before the return match for the semi-finals of the Europa League between the two clubs.

Two fans of the London team were knocked unconscious and were hospitalized, police said in a statement.
Police forces dispersed a group of around 800 English visitors in the Frankfurt train station district, where “fans of the two teams sought confrontation”.

After Eintracht won 2-1 in the first leg in London, around 5,000 British fans were expected in the German financial capital. For this game, the Frankfurt police prepared a reinforced device.

On the night of Tuesday to Wednesday, a group of West Ham fans was attacked in a Frankfurt bar by a group of 15 to 20 men, dressed in Eintracht colors and with their faces covered.

A 34-year-old Brit was taken to hospital after the attack with minor injuries. The attackers fled when the police arrived. None of them have been arrested so far.

During the day on Tuesday, two Britons were attacked by six men also identified as Eintracht supporters, who were later arrested.

In the first match, two German journalists were attacked by West Ham fans inside London’s Olympic Stadium.
