Rublev beats Djokovic in ATP tournament final

Russian tennis player Andrey Rublev won the ATP tournament by defeating Serb Novak Djokovic

Russian tennis player Andrei Rublev won the tournament of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) in Belgrade. The results are available on the organization’s website.

In the final match, the Russian beat the world No. 1 Serb Novak Djokovic. The meeting lasted 2 hours 29 minutes and ended in three sets with a score of 6:2, 6:7 (4:7), 6:0.

In the semi-finals of the tournament, Rublev defeated the Italian Fabio Fognini. The meeting ended in two sets with the score 6:2, 6:2. Djokovic was stronger than the Russian Karen Khachanov (4:6, 6:1, 6:2).

Rublev is eighth in the ATP rankings. The best result for a Russian was the fifth line of the rating in September 2021. At the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Andrei Rublev became the champion in the mixed doubles together with Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova.

Djokovic continues to lead the ATP rankings. On February 28, Daniil Medvedev received the status of the first racket of the world. However, a week later, on April 4, the Russian again lost the first line of the rating to the Serb.
