Three months after the first edition of The Jiujitsu League tournament, the Voltaire Paladines Polo Coliseum hosts The Jiujitsu League 02 edition, the first of three events to be held this year in Guayaquil and which will qualify for The JiuJitsu League Grand Prix 2022 .
The Brazilian jiujitsu championship will take place from 09:00 on Saturday, April 9, in the traditional Buenos Aires sports arena.
In the tournament there will be different categories, such as children, children and youth, adults, from 18 to 29 years old, masters, from 30 years onwards. All belts will also participate: white, blue, purple, brown and black.
There are 500 confirmed competitors from different cities in the country. In addition, delegations from countries such as Peru, Argentina, Chile, Mexico, Germany, the United States and Brazil.
The Jiujitsu League 02 has the support of the Guayas Provincial Jiujitsu Association and the Guayas Provincial Sports Federation. Likewise, with the endorsement of the Municipality of Guayaquil.
“It has been a massive reception of the tournament, much more than we expected, really. We trust that this tournament will become popular not only locally, but also internationally and that each time international delegations continue to join and ensure that our local athletes can have international exposure”, said the organizer of the league, Carlos Ibáñez.
The objective of the contest is to turn the country into the epicenter of Brazilian jiujitsu in Latin America, so that there are national tournaments with the same quality as those held abroad. And that national competitors who do not have the necessary resources can travel to compete in another country.
The president of the Sports Federation of Guayas, Roberto Ibáñez, stressed that last year’s tournament “was a very nice event” and that “every day there are events with greater hierarchy, with greater organization.”
The principal of Fedeguayas affirmed that he feels co-responsible together with the members of the Provincial Jiujitsu Association of Guayas to support the Brazilian BJJ in Guayaquil.

According to the program released by the organizers, the championship begins at 09:00 with the clashes of the children’s category, at 10:00 the white belt and youth categories will give way, at 11:00 the white belt black, at 12:00 to the blue belt and at 13:00 to the purple one.
At 2:00 p.m. the athletes of the brown ribbon category will be presented, at 3:00 p.m. those corresponding to the absolute brown and black category and at 4:00 p.m. those of the absolute blue and violet category.
The team award ceremony is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. and the closing of the event for 6:00 p.m. (D)
