FINA will not invite Russian athletes to competitions under its auspices in 2022
The International Swimming Federation (FINA) has banned Russians from participating in competitions under its auspices in 2022. This was reported on the website of the federation.
“The FINA Bureau reaffirmed its position that Russian and Belarusian athletes and officials will not be invited to any FINA events until the end of 2022,” the federation said in a statement.
Also on April 22, FINA suspended Russian swimmer Yevgeny Rylov from competition for nine months. The decision came into force on April 20.
On March 23, FINA suspended Russian athletes from the FINA World Championships, which will be held in Hungary from June 18 to July 3. At the same time, the federation had previously announced that it would allow the Russians to participate in the tournament in a neutral status.
