After just 17 games, coach Nuno Espírito Santo is fired from Tottenham

This Monday, Tottenham announced the resignation of coach Nuno Espírito Santos, along with his technical committee. Signed at the beginning of the season after an outstanding job at Wolverhampton, the Portuguese only spent 17 games in charge of the London club, the last of them being a 3-0 defeat by Manchester United last Saturday.

“I know how much Nuno and his coaching staff wanted to succeed and I’m sorry that we had to make that decision,” said Tottenham football director Fabio Paratici.

“Nuno is a man of character and will always be welcome here. We would like to thank him and his coaching staff and wish him a good future ahead,” added the manager.

Of the 17 games in charge of the London team, Nuno Espírito Santo had nine wins, one draw and seven defeats. Tottenham is in eighth place in the Premier League, with 15 points, after starting winning the first three matches.

In the Conference League, a debuting European competition this season, the team is in the third position of a group that includes Rennes, Vitesse and Mura.
