Ethan Hayter (Ineos Grenadiers) won the second stage of the Tour de Romandie which was held this Thursday, April 29, in Échallens, with a distance of 168.2 kilometres. the basque cyclist Jon Aberasturi (Trek Segafredo) finished second after being overtaken in the sprint by the stage winner. Rohan Dennis (Jumbo Visma) continues to lead.

Hayter, winner of the prologue and affected by a crash in the first stage, rounded off his team’s work with victory. The Vitorian Jon Aberasturi was left with honey on his lipswhile third place went to Fernando Gaviria (UAE Emirates).

The day had hardly any shocks, with the exception of a few falls and the effort of the Jumbo Visma in defending Dennis’ leadership when it came to controlling the getaway starring Diego López (Kern Pharma), Skujins (trek Segafredo), Brun (Swiss Cycling) and Planckaert (Intermarché – Wanty – Gobert Matériaux). The first to yield were López and Planckaert from Navarre. Then, 20 kilometers from the finish, the peloton caught up with Brun and Skujins.

In the last kilometer, Ineos worked for Hayter, and the UAE for Gaviria. Ethan Hayter put the icing on the cake for his team with the victory of the stage, after beating Aberasturi and Gaviria in the final meters.

The general classification is led by Rohan Denniswhat 14 seconds ahead of Felix Grobschartner (BORA-hansgrohe) and in 18 seconds to Mauro Schmid (Quick Step Alpha Vinyl).
