Russian female referee Pustovoitova was left without the European Football Championship
Russian football referee Anastasia Pustovoitova has been suspended from work at the 2022 European Women’s Championship. The reaction of the judge was reported by Championship.com.
Pustovoitova admitted that she knew about the suspension in advance. She received a letter from the department responsible for the work of women referees in the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA).
“What did you experience? Lump in throat, tears rolled up. My dream burst like a balloon,” said Pustovoitova. She noted that she now intends to focus on work in Russia: “For me, any match is a joy and in any capacity. This is my life!”
In August 2021, Pustovoitova was entrusted with the role of the chief referee in the final of the women’s football tournament at the Tokyo Olympics. She also officiated the Women’s Champions League final.
