Gündogan projects Champions League semi-final and sees Benzema ready for the Ballon d’Or

Manchester City midfielder Gündogan designed the clash against Real Madrid in the Champions League. The first semifinal takes place this Tuesday at 16:00 (Brasília time).

According to the player, fans can expect a more offensive squad in relation to the game against Atlético de Madrid, in the quarterfinals. The midfielder also stated that in the Spanish squad there are key players and it will be a “hard nut to crack”.

“We are a top team, strong and versatile, both individually and collectively. We grow together and approach each game with the highest level of concentration”, began Gündogan, in an interview with Sport 1.

“(Real Madrid, a team that beat PSG and Chelsea, will be a tough nut to crack. We are aware of that. It’s a brutal team with Karim Benzema, Luka Modric, Toni Kroos. They’ve all been performing at an unbelievably high level. Vinicius, who is playing very well especially this season”, he added.

The midfielder said that Benzema, alongside Lewandowski, is the best striker at the moment. He understands that in other seasons the Frenchman’s brilliance has been overshadowed by Cristiano Ronaldo and believes he is now enjoying his best moment in football.

“Right now, Benzema is for me, along with Lewandowski, the best striker in the world. For a long time he was overshadowed by Cristiano Ronaldo, especially in the media, but now he is getting the attention he deserves. He lets his achievements speak for themselves. Benzema has what you have to have to be a Ballon d’Or”, analyzed Gündogan.
