Emma Raducanu before the matches against Świątek: I feel that I will be able to go to the court without pressure

The surprising winner of the previous year has recently been going through a difficult time. The 19-year-old tennis player was to follow the Polish path and permanently enter the forefront. Meanwhile, this year she plays very mediocre and before the tournament in Stuttgart she was not able to win two games in a row. Therefore, wiątek is the absolute favorite of the Friday’s meeting, which Raducanu admitted.

– Of course that [Iga Świątek] he’s in great shape, it will be an interesting game. But she’s number one in the world and I feel like I can go out on the court without any pressure. I have no expectations for tomorrow’s meeting. I am waiting impatiently to see what will happen – said the British.

So far, Świątek and Raducanu have not had the opportunity to face each other in their senior career. In 2018, both players played in the junior quarter-finals. Then Świątek turned out to be much better, winning 6-0, 6-1, and later triumphing in the prestigious tournament.

Friday’s game will also be a match for the two youngest tennis players in the tennis elite. The leader on the world list of Christmas is 20 years old, while Emma Raducanu is 12 years old. In the top 20 of the WTA rankings, only 18-year-old American Coco Gaufff (16th place) is under 21.
