The Ministry of Industry and Trade acknowledged the problems with the availability of white office paper, but this situation will soon be resolved. This, according to RBC, was stated by the deputy head of the department, Viktor Evtukhov, on the air of Rossiya 24.

He noted that there are three largest producers of this paper in Russia – in the Leningrad region, in Komi and in the Arkhangelsk region.

Yevtukhov admitted that there was indeed a shortage of office paper on the market for two to three weeks in March due to the shutdown of the Svetogorsk Pulp and Paper Mill. The plant had to look for new suppliers after the cessation of supplies of chemicals from Finland, the deputy minister explained.

Now, according to Yevtukhov, the plant has already found suppliers in China and India, and will also use domestic chemicals. “This is a new type of paper, it will be a slightly different color, not bright white,” the deputy head of the department said, calling the new paper “eco-paper”: the new chemicals do not contain chlorine.

Recall that on February 21, 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed decrees recognizing the independence of the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics (DPR and LPR), and on February 24 he made an emergency appeal to the Russians and announced a special military operation in Donbass. In his speech, he stated that “circumstances require decisive action from Russia” and stressed that “Russia will not allow Ukraine to have nuclear weapons.” The goals of the special operation were called “demilitarization and denazification” of Ukraine.

In response to Russia’s actions, Western countries (USA, Canada, European Union, Great Britain, Japan) announced new, tougher sanctions against the Russian Federation, including financial and economic ones.
