Russian mixed style fighter (MMA) Islam Makhachev, in an interview with Daniel Cormier’s YouTube channel, told why he does not want to live like former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov.
The athlete said that Nurmagomedov travels a lot, trains every day and comes to fights to support all wards, despite the fact that he has ended his career. Makhachev himself, having retired, would like to rest all the time. “I want to spend a lot of time with my family, friends, and not travel so much, because I have been away from Dagestan for so much time,” the fighter explained.
On October 30, Makhachev defeated New Zealand rival Dan Hooker at UFC 267 in Abu Dhabi. The fight was held in the lightweight division and ended ahead of schedule in the first round. Makhachev performed a painful hold, after which the referee stopped the fight.
Makhachev extended his winning streak to nine. He is Nurmagomedov’s associate. The athlete trained under the supervision of his father Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov and repeatedly took part in combat sambo tournaments.
