Russian biathletes Abramova, Bekh and Moskalenko were expelled from the Ukrainian national team
Three Russian women were expelled from the Ukrainian biathlon team. This was reported on the website of the biathlon federation of Ukraine.
Olga Abramova, Kateryna Bekh and Oksana Moskalenko, who changed sports citizenship to Ukrainian, were fired by the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine. Coach Yevgeny Kolupaev explained that last season they did not fulfill the criteria for getting into the team and receiving wages.
Abramova began playing for the Ukrainian national team in 2012, Bekh and Moskalenko – in 2018. Abramova won the summer world championship three times. Beh is a two-time World Junior Champion.
Earlier, Ukrainians Anna and Maria Muzychuk did not sign the appeal of the Lviv Regional Chess Federation (LOCHF) to the International Chess Federation (FIDE) demanding that Russians be banned from participating in tournaments under the auspices of the organization. They opposed the complete removal of the Russians, which is why the LOSHF applied sanctions against them. The organization has ceased cooperation with the sisters and plans to expel them from the presidium and the federation.
At the end of February, many international organizations suspended the Russians from tournaments. In some disciplines, such as football, hockey, biathlon and figure skating, athletes are completely suspended. In motorsport, cycling, tennis and chess, Russians can continue playing in a neutral status.
