Russian mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter Petr Yan lost to American Aljamain Sterling in the fight for the UFC bantamweight title at the 273rd promotion tournament. This is reported by the correspondent of “Lenta.ru”.
The fight took place in American Jacksonville. Sterling won by split decision, the Russian fighter was unable to regain the bantamweight title.
It was previously reported that Yang and Sterling had a duel of views ahead of the tournament. Initially, the rivals were supposed to meet in the UFC octagon back in 2021, but the American withdrew from the fight due to health problems.
Yan lost to Sterling in their first fight, which took place in March 2021. Then the Russian struck an illegal blow to the opponent’s head and lost the championship belt.
