CSKA will extend the contract with Akinfeev

CSKA General Director Babaev announced the imminent extension of the contract with Igor Akinfeev

CSKA General Director Roman Babaev said that the club will soon extend the contract with goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev. It is reported by “Match TV”.

Babaev noted that a new contract with the 35-year-old goalkeeper has been agreed. According to the functionary, only a number of technical issues remained. Akinfeev’s current contract with CSKA will expire in June 2022.

In the 2021/2022 season, the goalkeeper took part in all CSKA matches within the Russian Championship. His transfer fee is estimated at three million euros.

Akinfeev began playing for CSKA in 2003. The goalkeeper has defended the colors of the club throughout his professional career. As part of the red and blue, he won the championship and the Russian Cup six times, and in 2005 he won the UEFA Cup.

Akinfeev is the record holder of the Russian championships in terms of the number of matches played. As of March 20, 2022, he has 507 games in the national championship.
