Italian cyclist collapses at Vuelta Catalunya and survives cardiac arrest
Bahrain Victorious Italian cyclist Sonny Colbrelli collapsed at the finish line of the first stage of the Vuelta Catalunya. It is reported by Velonews.
The athlete finished the race second behind Michael Matthews of Australia of Team BikeExchange – Jayco. Immediately after the finish, the Italian lost consciousness, he began to have convulsions. The doctors had to use a defibrillator. Colbrelli survived the cardiac arrest and was taken to Girona hospital.
Bahrain – Victorious announced the stable condition of the 31-year-old cyclist. They also noted that other details of the incident will be reported later.
The Vuelta of Catalunya 2022 will end on March 27. The first cycling race was held in 1911.
