“In my opinion, the World Championships will lose a lot of entertainment without our skaters. Our athletes are the decoration of any competition, ”said Tarasova. She stressed that she would watch the tournament, as she was interested in watching the results of other athletes.
Earlier, Olympic champion Adelina Sotnikova said that the World Championship was interesting to her because there were Russian athletes. She considered that domestic skaters set a high bar, so it would be boring to watch competitions without them.
On March 1, the International Skating Union banned Russians from participating in competitions under its auspices. The organization explained that the decision was made on the basis of the recommendations of the International Olympic Committee. The ban affected figure skaters, skaters and short track skaters.
The World Championship will last from 21 to 27 March. Competitions will be held in French Montpellier.
