The Leganés coach, Asier Garitano, was dismissed this Saturday after the defeat against Almería (1-0) the day before, ending his second stage in the pepinera entity, from which he left being the second coach with the most games in its history.
“CD Leganés and Asier Garitano will not continue together. The Basque coach will not continue to lead the cucumber team, ending his second stage on the Butarque bench after having collected ten points in the 13 games played (…) with the team in relegation positions, “said the club blue and white.
Garitano, what promoted Leganés to Second in 2014 and First in 2016, left the entity two years later to face new experiences in the highest category. The one from Bergara led Real Sociedad and also Alavés before returning to the city that made him famous in the world of football less than a year ago.
Last season he managed to take ‘his’ Lega to the promotion playoff but did not pass the first round and this season the team has been in trouble from the beginning. Leganés, who announced his dismissal, has not announced who will assume the position for next Tuesday’s game against Cartagena.
