Patryk Rombel’s players started this match in great style. The Polish team created goal situations easily and were very effective. As a result, after a quarter of an hour of play, our handball players were already 9: 6 with the Swedes.
Since then, the problems of our team members began. Szymon Działakiewicz did not take advantage of the situation alone, and the coach of the Swedes began to admit his biggest stars. The advantage of “Biało-Czerwonych” quickly faded and in the 22nd minute, after an action successfully finished by Jonathan Carlsbogard, there was a draw by 11:11. The Swedes did not intend to stop and were already in the lead by 15:12 three minutes before the end of the first half. Eventually, the first half ended with the visitors leading 17:14.
The Poles started the second part of the fight with problems in the attack. The first goal after the break was scored by Biało-Czerwoni in the eighth minute. Nevertheless, they did not increase their losses, thanks to the phenomenal attitude of Jakub Skrzyniarz, who stopped the ball four times in almost hopeless situations after the shots of the European champions.
Unfortunately, after a quarter of an hour in the second part of the meeting, Poland did not get closer to the Swedes. This is due to the good defense of our rivals, because our handball players scored only four goals at that time. It is also worth appreciating the Polish defense here, because the achievements of the guests were the same. But the effective throw from seven meters of Jan Czuwara and the goal of Szymon Sićka meant that in the 48th minute the rivals were leading with only one goal, and the fans at ORLEN Arena experienced great emotions.
Although Linus Persson saw the red card ten minutes before the end of the game, the advantage of the visitors has grown to four goals. And although the Poles fought very bravely, they did not manage to make up for the loss. Our handball players, although they left a very good impression, succumbed to the European champions for the second time.
It was the second friendly match before next year’s World Cup. Let us remind you that the Poles are organizing this event together with Sweden. The tournament will take place on January 11-29, 2023. The Poles will start the competition with the preliminary round in Katowice. Our representation, in the event of promotion, will play the main round in Krakow. The quarter-finals and semi-finals will be hosted by Gdańsk, and the President’s Cup – Płock. The hosts of the tournament will be Katowice, Płock, Kraków, Gdańsk, Małopolska and Silesia (in Poland) as well as Goteborg, Malmo, Stockholm, Kristianstad and Jonkoping (in Sweden).
