UFC chief Dana White says the hype around British fighter Paddy Pimblett is justified
The head of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), Dana White, spoke about the popularity of the British newcomer to the promotion, Paddy Pimblett. His words are quoted by MMA Junkie.
Pimblett scored his second consecutive win in the promotion, forcing the submission of Rodrigo Vargas at the UFC London tournament. The Briton has been compared to former UFC champion Conor McGregor, calling him the Second McGregor.
White stated that Pimblett impressed him with his performance in the octagon and even entering the arena. He noted that there is a huge hype around the Briton, and stressed that the popularity of the fighter is justified.
“A simple example. In my Instagram, I posted a video from the battle of views. Duel Volkov and Aspinall (a fight with the participation of Russian Alexander Volkov led the tournament in London – approx. “Tapes.ru”) scored 120 thousand views. Paddy video — 1.3 million,” he added.
Pimblett made his UFC debut in September 2021. Then he knocked out the Brazilian Luigi Vendramini. Like McGregor, Pimblett competed with Cage Warriors before moving to the UFC.
