A member of the Supervisory Board of Khimki spoke about the dangers of legionnaires for football in Russia
Roman Teryushkov, member of the Khimki Supervisory Board and State Duma deputy, spoke about the departure of a number of foreign players from the Moscow Region club. His words are quoted by Sport24.
Teryushkov said that the club intends to rely on young players. He noted that legionnaires are harming Russian football, but stressed that their departure was sudden. The MP singled out the negative role of the position of the International Football Federation (FIFA), which allowed the player to suspend contracts with the clubs of the Russian Premier League (RPL).
Three foreign players left Khimki: Viana, Lamkel Ze, Dagerstol. Foreign players are leaving the RPL amid the exclusion of domestic clubs from participation in international competitions.
FIFA and the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) suspended Russian clubs and teams from participating in competitions under their auspices. This decision was made against the backdrop of a special operation of the RF Armed Forces on the territory of Ukraine.
