Former Argentine rugby international Federico Aramburu died last night in Paris at the age of 42, after an altercation at the exit of a bar that resulted in a shooting, local media reported this Saturday.
The player, who played for several French clubs, especially Biarritz Olympique, with whom he won two French championships, in 2005 and 2006, but also for Perpignan and Dax, had 22 appearances for the Pumas.
The events took place outside a bar in the 6th district of the French capital, where the former player was before traveling to Argentina next Monday.
An argument with other people led to a fight. After being separated, several individuals returned in a vehicle and began shooting at Aramburu and another friend, killing the former rugby player.
The perpetrators of the shots fled and are being sought by the French police, who have opened an investigation commissioned by the criminal brigade by the judge who has taken charge of the case.
Biarritz, the club in which Aramburu was a member of the Board of Directors, sent a message of condolences through the social network Twitter.
“We have learned of the death of Federico Martín Aramburu in tragic circumstances. The club as a whole sends its most sincere condolences to his family, his relatives and shows them its full support,” he said.
Perpignan also showed its “immense sadness” for that drmaa
In addition to Biarritz, where he played between 2004 and 2006, Aramburu was at Perpignan between 2006 and 2008 and at Dax from 2008 to 2010, before leaving for Glasgow and finishing his career at Argentine side San Isidro.
He currently resided in Biarritz where he worked in a tourist company. (I)
