FIFA has released US$ 1 million (more than R$ 5 million) to help victims of the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine caused by the invasion of the Russian army, the world football body announced on Saturday.
This amount should “respond to the needs that have been identified as the most urgent”, said FIFA, which had already sent emergency material to Ukraine through its foundation.

“The FIFA Foundation stands ready to provide some of the help needed, working together with football communities in Ukraine and the region,” President Gianni Infantino said in a statement.
Since the beginning of the conflict, on February 24, the football world has multiplied its initiatives to support the Ukrainian people.
As a result of the attack, FIFA sanctioned Russia, depriving it of playing in the qualifiers for the World Cup in Qatar.
