Adrianna Su³ek vice-champion of the world! “Nothing to talk about.” A new star will grow for us!

In 2021, Adrianna Su³ek became the Youth European Champion. It was during these competitions that she presented her top form of the season, and she went to the Olympic Games as a prize. In Tallinn, Ada scored 6305 points, and less than a month later in Tokyo – “only” 6164 points. In Japan, Su³ek gathered valuable experience. There she was 16. And in Belgrade she competed wonderfully for gold with the fourth seven-player of the Games, Noor Vidts.

In the 60 m hurdles race, the Pole had the sixth time and the Belgian the best. But by balancing the lead in the high jump (1.89 cm), Su³ek took the lead after two events. After three – in the shot put, she was 10 cm closer to her record, scoring 13.40 m – Ada was second, only 12 points behind Vidts. After the long jump, the advantage of the Belgian increased to 67 points, because although the Pole beat the best (by 14 cm – at 6.43 m), the favorite scored a great 6.60 m.

Before the last competition it was clear that at 800 m Su³ek would have to run about 5.5 seconds faster than Vidts to overtake it and win the gold. It was almost unreal. But the Polish woman did great, she finished in second place behind the Belgian one and also in this start broke her life record in the hall. And the entire five games ended with a Polish record! Su³ek won silver M¦ with a score of 4,851 points. Urszula W³odarczyk’s record in 1998 was 4808 points.

“The result reliably shows us the huge potential of this girl”

– Ada is still a very young player, last year she was still a youth. There are great chances that it will develop even further – comments for Sport.pl, the 1998 European indoor champion and the 1999 indoor world champion.

We ask the former champion to what extent Su³ek’s result from the hall can translate into results at the stadium. – Javelin throwing is a competition that takes time. For now, Ada sticks out a bit in it. But Ada has time. Already in the perspective of the Olympic Games Paris 2024, she is able to polish this competition – claims Chmara. – On the other hand, at 200 meters, Ada is phenomenal and is still developing all the time. The hall score in a meaningful way shows us the enormous potential of this girl – there is no doubt about the vice president.

She broke the record of a legend. And this is just the beginning

Poland is going through a great time. At last year’s Olympics in Tokyo, she won as many as nine medals. This is a historic result. Importantly, new young stars appear in our frame all the time. It would be great if Su³ek would guarantee us emotions in all rounds for years. As Urszula W³odarczyk did over the years, incl. the indoor world runner-up and bronze medalist M¦, the European runner-up and the bronze medalist of the European Championships from the stadium, as well as the fourth competitor of the Atlanta 1996 and Sydney 2000 Olympics.

– I think that Ada is able to definitely beat Ula W³odarczyk. Ula was 33 years old when she was improving the Polish record, and Ada is 23 years old and has already achieved similar results. There is nothing to talk about, Su³ek is definitely a player who has a career ahead of her – sums up Chmara.
