From the beginning of the match, it was clear who was fighting for the Polish championship and who was fighting to stay in the league. she started with decisive attacks, but in the first minutes she was unable to create a threat at the goal of Mikołaj Biegański. It was like that until the 18th minute, when Sebastian Kowalczyk wasted the perfect opportunity, who did not take advantage of the one-on-one situation with the goalkeeper.
A minute later, however, the hosts took the lead. The players failed to watch over Mariusz Fornalczyk in the penalty area, who shot at Bieganski’s goal. Joseph Colley tried to block the ball, but he did it so unfortunately that he hit it in his own goal.
When it seemed that the next goals for Pogoń were a matter of time, in the 30th minute a goal was unexpectedly scored for the visitors. Matej Hanousek crossed from the left side, and Luis Fernandez beat Mariusz Malec and made the equalizer close.
The draw lasted for 13 minutes. A moment before the end of the first half, Kowalczyk crossed the Wisła penalty box from the left side of the field, and Kamil Drygas scored a header.
The pursuit of the leader of the league, Wisła is still in the relegation zone
If Wisła fans expected that their players would react to an unfavorable result after the break, they had to be severely disappointed. The second half started with Pogoń’s decisive attacks, which finally earned her a goal.
In the 69th minute, Damian Dąbrowski showed off his perfect, perpendicular pass. Grosicki played from the right side into the penalty area to Fornalczyk, but Konrad Gruszkowski was the last one. The Wisła player, just like Colley before, intervened so badly that he defeated his own goalkeeper.
In extra time Wisła was finished by Micha³ Kucharczyk, who was introduced to the field in the second half. The winger received a pass from Dąbrowski and without thinking he boomed from the penalty area, not giving Biegański the slightest chance to intervene.
Pogoń’s victory means that Kosta Runjaic’s team will be the leader of the league until at least Saturday. Pogoń is two points more than Raków Częstochowa, which will host Legia Warszawa on Saturday. Wisła is still in the relegation zone, in the 16th place and loses three points to Silesia, Wroc³aw, who will play on Saturday away from Wisła P³ock.
After the break for the national team matches, Pogoń will play away with Górnik Łęczna (April 2). A day later, the Vistula will take Piast Gliwice.
