The shield allowance as part of the anti-inflationary shield was created to help the lowest-income people deal with the rampant inflation. The first benefit payments will start soon. There is also good news for seniors applying for this money, as their payouts will not ultimately be reduced.
Who is entitled to the cover allowance? The income is decisive
The amount of income per household member is the decisive criterion for granting and the amount of the cover allowance. Its amount per year may be up to:
- PLN 400 for one-person households with income up to PLN 2,100 per month;
- PLN 600 for 2-3-person households with an income of up to PLN 1,500 per person per month;
- PLN 850 for 4-5-person households with income up to PLN 1,500 per person per month;
- PLN 1,150 for households of 6 and more with an income of up to PLN 1,500 per person per month.
In the case of families who heat their farms with coal, the payments will be higher than PLN 100 to PLN 287.
Will pensioners get a reduced cover allowance? The act does not dispel doubts, but the ministry does
The recent “Fakt” that the first installment for pensioners will be reduced from PLN 242 to PLN 78 has caused anxiety among many seniors. This was due to the fact that one-off benefits, ie the 13th and 14th retirement pension, were included in the income. This was the opinion of the Ministry of Climate and Environment.
A different one was presented by the Ministry of Family and Social Policy, which decided that the money in this respect should not be included in the income entitling to the cover allowance. Ultimately, the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage agreed that it was right. Therefore, seniors do not have to worry about the reduced payments of the coverage allowance.
Cover Supplement Payment Coming Soon. Applications can still be submitted
Persons who submitted the application by January 31, the first installment of the cover supplement should be paid by the end of March 2022. The exact payout times, however, may vary by region. In communes, applications for the payment of the shield allowance are still being accepted. By submitting the form no later than October 31, we can count on receiving funds in one tranche by December 2.
