Conor McGregor announces he wants next UFC title fight with Kamaru Usman
Irish mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter Conor McGregor has named his preferred opponent for the title fight in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). The interview with the athlete was published on The MacLife YouTube channel.
The Irishman has announced that he wants to fight Kamaru Usman next. “I will feel very confident in a fight with Usman, he has mediocre moves. I don’t see any danger in it, ”McGregor said.
The fighter said he feels big, strong, healthy and full of energy. He noted that he did not want to exhaust himself after the injury. “I like welterweight. I performed well there with the right preparation. So it was in the rematch with Nate Diaz, and in the duel with Donald Cerrone. I think these were my best performances in the UFC, ”McGregor explained.
On March 16, UFC head Dana White announced the timing of McGregor’s return to the octagon. He stated that if the recovery from the injury goes well, the Irishman will be allowed to train. In this case, the fight can take place in early autumn.
McGregor is a former two-weight UFC champion. In the summer of 2021, he was injured in a duel with Dustin Poirier. The Irishman broke his leg at the end of the first round and could not continue the fight. Since then, McGregor has continued to recover.
Usman is the UFC welterweight champion. In November 2021, he won the second fight against Colby Covington and defended the title for the fifth time.
