French biathlete Simon Fourcade said he did not consider it right to remove the Russians
Biathlon world champion Simon Fourcade spoke about the removal of Russian athletes from international competitions. It is reported by Metaratings.ru.
“I don’t think that the suspension of athletes is the right decision, but I am sure that they need time to be able to talk more about this,” Fourcade said, without specifying who exactly should give an explanation. The French biathlete also called Russia a big country that is able to overcome the current situation.
On March 16, the head of the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA), Steve Simon, spoke out against the removal of Russian athletes from international tournaments. He noted that the organization has never banned athletes from the tour because of politics.
At the end of February, many international sports organizations began to remove Russians from tournaments. In some disciplines, such as football, hockey, cross-country skiing and biathlon, athletes are completely suspended. In motorsport, cycling, tennis and chess, Russians can continue playing in a neutral status.
