Hillary Clinton called for the release of US basketball player Greiner arrested in Moscow
Former US presidential candidate Hillary Clinton has called for the release of American basketball player Brittney Griner, who was arrested in Moscow. Post available at Twitter-account policy.
“Free Brittney,” wrote the former US Secretary of State. Earlier on March 17, Greiner refused to challenge the drug smuggling charge in court. The defense of the American insisted on the illegality of the arrest and asked to change the measure of restraint.
On March 8, Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee delivered words of support to Greiner. She stated that she would demand the release of the basketball player from the Russian side.
Greiner’s arrest became known on March 5. The Olympic champion was detained at the capital’s airport. Drugs were found in the luggage of the American.
Greiner has been playing in Russia since 2015, defending the colors of the UMMC from Yekaterinburg. The American has won Olympic gold twice.
