France coach Didier Deschamps announced this Thursday the 23-man squad for the two friendlies against Côte d’Ivoire (25 March) and South Africa (29 March). The list featured the debuts of forward Nkunku and right-back Clauss.
Both calls were already expected due to the great performance of the two in the season. Nkunku, for example, has been one of RB Leipzig’s top players and has scored 26 goals in 38 games.
Clauss, on the other hand, plays for Lens and is the third-highest assistant in the French Championshipwith nine goal passes.
The list also featured players already renowned in European football, such as: Mbappé, Pogba, Benzema and Kanté.
On the other hand, names like Dembele and Giroud were forgotten by the French coach. In addition to them, Kurt Zouma was also not called up, weeks after a video in which he mistreats a cat appeared on social media.
