Formula 1 champion Verstappen sympathized with Mazepin after breaking the contract with Haas
Formula 1 champion, Austrian Red Bull pilot Max Verstappen spoke about the decision of the leadership of the American Haas team to terminate the contract with Russian Nikita Mazepin. His words are quoted by the BBC.
“Nikita himself needs to be sympathized with – everyone, no matter where he comes from, works hard from a young age to become a Formula 1 pilot,” Verstappen supported the Russian. He stressed that Mazepin was a competitive pilot, and now he has to go through difficult times.
Haas ended their partnership with Mazepin on March 5. The team also announced the termination of the agreement with the Russian company Uralkali, which sponsored it. The Russian rider called Haas’ decision painful and unfair.
In addition, the Formula 1 management terminated the contract to host the Russian Grand Prix, which was valid until 2025, and terminated the agreement to broadcast the racing series in Russia. Competitions will no longer be shown in Russia from next season.
