A tepid PSG goes back to Lille to continue as the French league leader

Lionel Messi was not in the best physical condition and was substituted in the second half.

The Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), outstanding leader of Ligue 1, came back in the final leg of the match and beat Lille, reigning champions, 2-1 this Friday at the opening of matchday 12, in a match in which Lionel Messi it was changed at half-time “as a precaution.”

The former Barcelona player, who came to the game with muscle discomfort and who started at the top of the attack instead of Kylian Mbappé (sick leave), could not guide his team in that first half, in which Lille went ahead in the 31st with a goal from Canadian Jonathan David.

PSG was able to react in time and turned the game around.

In 74, the Brazilian Marquinhos equalized by taking advantage of a center from Di María, who was in charge of signing the winning goal in 88, assisted by Neymar.

Di María was thus the hero of the night in the Parc des Princes, instead of his compatriot Messi, replaced at halftime when his team was losing after an insipid first half.

Messi had had several occasions (minutes 30 and 45), but again without luck.

The Argentine star, who joined PSG in August, has yet to score any goals in Ligue 1.

All three goals scored by Messi for Paris Saint-Germain have come in matches of the European Champions League.

Messi had been substituted during a game on only one occasion this season, in the 76th minute of the game against Lyon (2-1) on 19 September, after being hit on the knee.

There were some doubts about his participation in this match against Lille, due to a muscular discomfort that deprived him of collective training on Thursday. He was finally able to start, but his change in the middle of the game raises even more doubts.

“I replaced it as a precaution, with the opinion of the medical body. We believe that he will be available for the Leipzig match ”on Wednesday in the Champions League, said coach Mauricio Pochettino after the victory. (D)
