Two subjects were arrested on the afternoon of this Friday the 29th after robbing a gold buying and selling shop located on Sucre and Boyacá streets, in downtown Guayaquil.
According to Washington Chugá, chief of the October 9th District of the Police, around 1:30 p.m., five individuals entered the premises and threatened the owner with firearms. The criminals stole $ 2,400 in cash and fled the site.
Police personnel who were located in a security tent in the area noticed the suspicious attitude of the subjects and started a chase, in which two of them were arrested.
Chugá indicated that two firearms were found in the detainees: a blank pistol with eight ammunition and a revolver with four ammunition. One of the apprehended, of Ecuadorian nationality, has four criminal records for the crimes of murder, robbery, illicit association and illegal possession of weapons. The other apprehended is a Venezuelan national.
The police chief said that one of the hypotheses being handled is that a person close to the owner of the premises would have been an accomplice of the antisocials.
Chugá explained that, at the moment, the police units are in search of the other three people who entered the premises to commit the crime. The money had not been recovered until 4:30 p.m. on Friday 29.
