There is a CAS judgment on the representation of Russia. Inadequate

The International Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne did not accede to the appeal of the Russians against the decision to suspend the local teams. This is a preliminary verdict for now, because the right one will be announced after the full appeal hearing. This one probably in the coming weeks.

There is a preliminary CAS ruling on Russia’s appeal against the suspension of their athletes

It is known, however, that the current CAS decision does not concern the national team’s performance, which on March 24 was supposed to play with Poland in the play-offs to the World Cup in Qatar. This is because it is about a FIFA decision, and the arbitral tribunal will issue a preliminary decision on this matter within the next few days. However, there are many indications that it may also be similar in this case.

The Canadian Globe and Mail reports that the CAS decision was made by the chairwoman of the body’s appeals division, Corinne Schmidhauser, who acted alone and did not publish detailed reasons. The entire appeal case is expected to be resolved by a panel of three judges.

In early March, the Sports Arbitration Court received an appeal by the Russian Football Association (RFU) against the decisions made on February 28 by the FIFA office and the UEFA Executive Committee to suspend Russian teams and clubs from their competitions, the release reads. This means that Spartak Moscow cannot count on a return to the Europa League – the Russian team was excluded, and RB Leipzig automatically advanced to the quarter-finals of the tournament. Even greater changes affected the volleyball games: Zenit Petersburg and Dinamo Moscow were excluded from the quarter-finals of the Champions League, thanks to which Sir Sicoma Monini Perugia and ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle were promoted directly to the semi-finals.

The Russian Football Federation asked to cancel the decisions of international organizations and restore all Russian teams and clubs to participate in the tournaments and UEFA. RFU also filed a motion to stay the execution of each of the contested decisions.

Let us remind you that the Russian national team was supposed to play on March 24 in Moscow in the semi-final play-off match for the promotion to the World Cup in Qatar. However, Poland advanced to the finals of the play-offs, which will play in Chorzów on March 29 with the better of the Sweden-Czech Republic pair.
