Russian Magomed Ankalaev entered the top five UFC light heavyweight fighters
Russian mixed martial artist (MMA) Magomed Ankalaev improved his position in the ranking of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). The list of the best athletes of the promotion is available on the organization’s website.
The 29-year-old native of Dagestan broke into the top five UFC fighters in the light heavyweight category. He finished in fourth place ahead of American Anthony Smith and Brazilian Tiago Santos.
Above Ankalaev in the ranking are Alexander Rakic, Jiri Prochazka, Jan Blachowicz and current champion Glover Teixera. The Russian won in his last fight, being stronger than Santos.
The victory over the Brazilian was Ankalaev’s eighth in a row within the organization. The Dagestani has not lost in the octagon since March 2018. The last one who managed to defeat the Russian fighter was the Scot Paul Craig. Ankalaev’s meeting with him was the debut for the Russian in the UFC.
