This Friday, at a press conference prior to Benfica’s game against Estoril, the Portuguese coach said that the screams of the Flamengo fans “touched” him and stressed that he always had “the suitcase packed at the door”.
“Am I happy to be cherished by the fans of a club? I just wouldn’t be if I was insensitive. It was images that touched me. I don’t know my future, my contract ends at the end of the season and my suitcase is always packed at the door. A coach lives on results. Right now, Benfica is my home, I came to Portugal with a well-defined goal,” he said.
Jorge also highlighted that he is totally focused on Benfica at the moment, even with the contract near the end.
“What is important is that I am Benfica’s coach. We have well-defined goals. I want the eagle to fly high so that we are always close to winning the proposed titles. I can’t escape this thought. Benfica is today, tomorrow, everyone We’re always thinking about how we can improve Benfica,” he said.
The match between Benfica and Estoril will be this Saturday, at 15:00 (GMT), valid for the tenth round of the Portuguese Championship.
