Goikoetxea and Aimar will play the final after beating Olharan and Etcheto

Iñaki Osa Goikoetxea and Aimar Aldazabal qualified for the final of the Jai Alai Winter Series after beat Jean Olharan and Nicolas Etcheto in the semifinals (15-10, 8-15 and 5-2) this Monday March 14 in Gernika-Lumo. Goikoetxea and Aimar will fight for the title against Aritz Erkiaga and Jon Zabala on the end of next March 20.

The first two goals of the opening set went to Goikoetxea and Aimar (0-2), but Olharan and Etcheto reacted quickly, leveling the match (2-2) and taking the lead (2-6) with an advantage of four goals. However, the Goikoetxea-Aimar duo was able to overcome their bad moment, closing the gap, and after tying at seven (7-7) they gave a rush with consecutive goals (10-7). Jean Olharan and Nicolas Etcheto did not give up, and were only one goal away (10-9). Goikoetxea and Aimar managed the final stretch of the first set better, winning by 15-10 and they won the first point.

At the start of the second set equality prevailed (1-1 and 2-2). After the 2-2 draw, Olharan and Etcheto took the lead (2-4), but Goikoetxea and Aimar leveled the match (4-4). After the tie at five (5-5) Jean Olharan and Nocolas Etcheto opened the gap on the scoreboard, achieving an advantage of five goals (5-10). Goikoetxea and Aimar tried, but the gap was insurmountable. Thus, the second set was won by the Olharan-Etcheto couple by 8-15.

In the tie-break set, the first goal corresponded to Olharan and Etcheto, but the Goikoetxea-Aimar couple linked four goals in a row (4-1), and was one away from victory. Olhran and Etcheto closed the gap (4-2), but Goikoetxea and Aimar did not get nervous and won (5-2).
