In Cuenca there was also chaos for ticket sales for Ecuador vs. Argentina

In the sale of tickets for the match between the teams of Ecuador and Argentina, for the last date of the qualifying round for the Qatar 2022 World Cup, chaos reigned. Hundreds of fans made a long queue from Sunday night, but not all of them got the ticket, as a large part of these remained in the hands of resellers. At noon all the paper is over.

Due to the interest and the geographical proximity between Cuenca and Guayaquil (the city where the match will be played), fans began to arrive outside the municipal stadium with the desire to take a ticket for the general, grandstand or box seats. According to the Police Mayor, Andrés Vicuña, 1,400 were sent.

Such was the disorder and disorganization that the authorities marked the buyers: on the left arm, with a marker, each one was given a number and a seal. But that was not an impediment for resellers to access the windows.

It was all business. For a place in line they asked for $20, and the price of tickets for scalpers was double; for example, for a box, which costs $50, they would ask up to $300.

Iván Carrasco managed to buy two seats in the grandstand, but thanks to the fact that he agreed to a preferential row for the elderly and disabled. As a fan, he lamented the organization of the Ecuadorian Football Federation, but above all what he called “criolla liveliness”, especially because where he was he witnessed men and women arrive, also with disability cards, and then resell.

Due to the disorder generated, the police detained a man for a few minutes accusing him of having insulted him, but due to the pressure of the people they released him in seconds.

The match between Ecuador and Argentina will be next March 29 at the Monumental Banco Pichincha stadium. (D)
